Always approach writing from the readers’ perspective: “Why should I care about what you have written?”.
There’s an excellent YouTube video I watched a few days ago that taught a very effective writing technique: the top-down approach to an expert audience (i.e. people with PhDs).
Would have been nice to share a link to your Medium publication for specific feedback.
It vastly depends on the topics you’re writing about. What are your goals for writing on Medium?
What have you tried so far? And how long have you been writing?
I think for any writing endeavour, it is hard to gain traction. You have to write consistently. Be interesting. Put effort into promoting your own thing, etc.
