How my launch platform got 1,500+ unique visitors and 5k+ visits in two weeks

From Idea to Deployed in exactly 1 month

I came up with the idea for my product Microlaunch, a Product Hunt competitor, on January 1st of 2024. It wasn't because I was unhappy with Product Hunt, yet I started telling people it was an alternative to it.

What I realized was that we don't want a replacement per se, but the opposite kind of service. One that gets more input from product makers rather than product consumers. Product Hunt doesn't do enough to help with product-market fit or offer early feedback.

Fast early validation

First, we collectively decided on a catchy name and bought the microlaunch.net domain. Then, I crafted a quick logo on Figma (took me 10 minutes).

This means more maker-friendly features, such as feedback collection. Less unfair competition. Fewer bots. A more meaningful ranking system. A brand-new way to discover hidden gems.

I talked to a couple more folks on X about the idea and gathered interest.

Community first

Sharing the concept, the first product iterations created a real sense of community on social media (mostly X). Something I'm grateful for sharing. A really big thanks to the early contributors, Microlaunch's second family:

Core contributors

Shipping (and marketing) in public

The whole idea of the shipping process took 3 weeks, then I bought the domain and designed a quick logo for it. (It took me 15 minutes.)

I actively marketed my product on X daily and started creating a community of core adopters around it. Transparency plays an important role in getting people willing to be involved, so I decided to build the platform in public.

I also decided not to neglect SEO. Since my stack includes Nextjs, I ensured my pages were properly generated and crawled by search engines/GSC.

I deployed the whole thing two weeks ago:

Traction for Microlaunch

Results

Here we are:

  • 100+ product makers and startups submitted their products🚀
  • 41 accepted.
  • 5k++ visits.
  • 1.5k+ unique visitors on the platform.
  • Traffic starting to build up.
  • SEO foundations set up.

This is exciting, and I'm committed to making it the best place around for makers.

The next step is now a Product Hunt launch scheduled on the 5th of March. I would greatly appreciate your support and any tips: [notify me page on PH](https://www.product hunt.com/products/microlaunch).

Let me know if you have any suggestions. 🙏

can i add my startup too?

    1. 1

absolutely mate, you can directly add it from the platform, there is a submit product button🤗

  2. 3

Congratulations on launching just in a month! One suggestion that i would like to give is that clearly highlight how microlaunch addresses specific pain points other than the existing platform.

    1. 1

Thank you Prem, you're absolutely right! The pain point it addresses is mostly about improving early-stage feedback quality and early-stage product discovery. Instead of simple ranks, we also have advanced metrics such as separate scores for idea, product and feedback.

  3. 2

I am one those early contributing people who signed up to Microlaunch recently. It's a pretty cool idea.

    Congrats Said!

    1. 1

thank you so much, got product of the day in the end😊

  4. 2

You love to see this story! What a great success. :)

thank you so much Dominic, I appreciate😊, just the beginning of a journey I hope

    Hey there!

I just wanted to drop by and express my excitement about publishing My Own Assistant on your platform. It looks absolutely amazing, and I can't wait to share it with your community.

As I prepare for the launch, I was wondering if you have any advice or tips to ensure a successful debut on your platform. I'm eager to make the most of this opportunity and provide value to users who could benefit from My Own Assistant.

Looking forward to your insights and guidance!

    1. 2

Hey, I love your excitement, I'll be happy to see you on Microlaunch. Well, the platform mostly helps you launch and get early feedback about both your product and idea. Also helps to discover game changing products & trends. No need to be 100% ready in my opinion. Let me know if you need more advice mate.

      1. 2

Submitted the request! Excited to join Microlaunch. Looking forward to the feedback and community.

        1. 1

Happy to read that, I'll process your submission soon. Let me know if you need anything

  6. 2

Congratulations on the swift and successful launch of Microlaunch! It's incredible to see how you've taken an idea from concept to deployment in just a month, especially in a space as competitive as product discovery platforms. Your focus on offering something beyond just an alternative — enhancing the product maker's journey with early feedback and more maker-friendly features — is commendable.

    1. 1

I appreciate your kind words🤗! The idea was (and is still) to move fast and keep things fluid and balanced between product & marketing. Product discovery platforms struggle in my opinion from the fact that they all look alike. Don't you think? Exactly I'm focusing on a "gamified early feedback & discovery"

    1. 1

Well, mostly on X & Threads for now, and I also set up some SEO foundations. Still waiting for them to bring some traffic

  7. 2

Super useful and detailed information @saidaitmbarek - thank you!

    1. 2

You're welcome Lewis, happy to have you onboard :)

  8. 2

Congratulations on your launch and getting so much views without advertising

    1. 1

thank you mate, exactly! No ads involved at all, everything organic :)

  9. 2

5k+ visitors in less than 2 weeks in some really great numbers man. You're really nailing it with buildinpublic and distribution. Curious to know how you plan on taking it further with SEO?

    1. 1

Thank you so much! Distribution isn't an easy game, actually involves a lot of marketing :) - my SEO plans are mostly about promoting products on search engines, still figuring things out to be honest

Thanks for sharing your story! I have also found that X has a better engagement.

  18. 1

Since my stack includes Nextjs, I ensured my pages were properly generated and crawled by search engines/GSC.

Can you share bit more on this? My stack is also in next but we are struggling a little with google, for some reason google doesn't want to index our pages. tubeonai kom

You launched in less than a month, super cool. Just filling up the form to add my product here.

  20. 1

Great story, just added my product.

I hope to have a launch platform that can connect target users with products. Product Hunt has now become a bulletin board with lots of traffic, but it's not precise enough.

  21. 1

Super inspiring to read. Supporting the Product Hunt launch!
