How do you promote your product by spending $0 on advertising?

https://www.monitup.com is new and very difficult to sell. Because it tracks people, keeps data... It's a bit of a tedious job.

I need to not only sell my product, but also develop it. Since I developed the Monitup, I brought it to the MVP level with a very small budget, but I want to spend all my budget on developing the product and keeping it alive. So my ad budget is $0.

While researching how to do this I came across AppSumo, and posted a launch: https://appsumo.com/products/monitup-employee-monitoring

It wasn't great (I've only been able to sell 3 licenses yet), it's become a nicer promotional page, but I've learned a lot about launching.

Then I tried the Product Hunt launch: https://www.producthunt.com/posts/monitup

That wasn't great, but I learned more about the launch.

Then I tried contacting potential customers one-on-one. MonitUp attracts the attention of companies that work remotely, so I identified the companies that work remotely and sent a short MonitUp promotion to their CEOs and General Managers via LinkedIn and a connection request. I wrote back to those who accepted my request with a short introductory text containing the features of the product and tried to set up a meeting. I've had 2 meetings so far and one is testing MonitUp.

I've reached a lot of people by spending $0 so far.

How do you promote your product with $0?

Another great way to gain a lot of new users with $0 is to do a proper PH launch. I am doing mine today and I have already gotten more than 200 new visits! :D

I have tested and found that there are still shortcomings such as unstable downloads, you can refer to the Mod with free entertainment applications, fast transmission, sound and images are all very good at here https://getmodnow.com

I really like your cold-calling (emailing) approach. I think it shows your hustle, and also you get direct feedback from potential customers.

Of course, most people will give cold responses at first. But as you stay consistent with this approach, you'll find better and warmer avenues to sell.

Now I have the same situation. We are developing our service and we don’t have money to use paid channels.

    1. My team and I send direct messages to our target audience on LinkedIn.
    2. We published a few articles on Medium about how to read non-fiction books properly and get more value.
    3. I answer questions on Quora.
    4. We are planning to become part of communities on Reddit.

And we plan to use AppSumo and other directories.

    1. 2

Being active on Medium, Quora, and Reddit can work.

For this, it is necessary to write articles. I can't find much to write in my field. It may also be because I am a technical guy.

There is a lot to be done, time and budget are limited... Setting up a Startup is really hard work :)

      1. 1

Hahaha ... you right! Setting up a Startup is really hard work :)

      2. 1

Yes, you are right. It takes time. For Quora, I made it a daily routine and spend just one hour every day there. If you are a tech wizz you can find relevant questions on Quora too and show your expertise ...

        1. 1

With Quora, should you only focus on answering new questions, or older ones as well? Does the time the question was asked matter?

          1. 1

            We are experimenting now.

What I have gleaned at this time:

            – Answer in spaces (groups), especially popular spaces, not to alone questions. In this case, you have a chance of getting more views and upvotes.

            – Write about yourself in your bio. But not write a lot of advertising and call to actions.

I try to answer popular questions with tons of views (yes, they can already have answers) or questions without answers.

We started last week. You can see my bio and log on Quora. We are planning to continue the experiment for 2 months, not less.

I have heard that Quora greatly helps you SEO because Google likes it.

I think your description in AppSumo really needs optimization. Your first line description after the title too doesn't tell potential users what your website is all about "Working hard is not working efficiently" has no value proposition. I think you may want to update the copywriting of your campaigns.

    1. 1

      Andrewten,

Thank you for your interest. You're right about that, I hadn't thought of it that way. In AppSumo, they usually write only the brand in the title section. Which one would you recommend? MonitUp or MonitUp - Employee monitoring software? or something else?

By the way, what do you think about the description part?

I'm a technical guy, when the project is new and the budget is low limit, you have to do everything. A tech guy doesn't really understand design and communication :)
