On Which Platform Should a Community Be Built? [QUESTION] [Airtable]
I want to create an Airtable community but am undecided about the community platform.
I aim to share 1 Airtable information every day. I thought about Telegram, but not everyone has Telegram. Then I thought about the newsletter. They suggested Discord or Slack in another community. Discord is a bit more game-based, but it was trying to break this perception. They said Slack is the best. I'm quite confused.
What are you thinking?

I'm looking at a product for community building from quite some time: https://circle.so/
It has forum threads, user profiles, public and private channels, and a few more features that would allow you to use it to send a newsletter, or create a course as well as charging members a subscription price.
I only have experience with the product as member of a community built on it but I have also been following the company webinars etc. Looks promising.
I thought about these platforms today. I'm still in its infancy. The community will not come directly and produce content. When I asked my entrepreneur friends who started their own community, they suggested that I start with a simple newsletter first.

My own take:
Discord if your target audience has a big overlap with a gamer/streamer audience
Slack if there is an overlap with startups and / or business / enterprise users
For anyone without Telegram (which is a lot of people); very few people will download the Telegram app just to get one message a day from you. The venn diagram of people with telegram that want to be in an Airtable community seems small to me.
Why not start with the newsletter on Substack? Instead of one per day, do a summary newsletter with 5 links per week plus some news around Airtable? If it takes off, you could eventually charge a small amount for access to the archive of newsletter posts.
Three months of that newsletter would be sixty links only. You'd know by then if it is working and would have the time to engage with an audience to see what they want from a community. Then you could move to Slack, Circle.so, or Geneva (the last two are white-label communities products)
