Whay if all your URLs (Docs/Miro/Wiki links) were available at single place?

Everyday

  • I open my team's JIRA
  • Being a manager, refer and share our team's objective over Slack to different Stakeholder, Share team's Roadmap link over Slack
  • Share many of Miro links with Architecture diagram from different teams
  • Other RFC documents, Onboarding documents
  • Share many HOWTO Wiki pages links with relevant Developers

and everyday I need to find these links before I can open it or Share it with someone. Sometime I find it easily, sometimes I never find it. Sounds familiar!?

THAT'S WHEN I DECIDED TO BUILD AN APP THAT WOULD

uShort makes it really easy, just one click, to create easy-to-remember short version of URL and later use it everywhere in your Slack conversation, easily accessible from browser.

USE

  • Command line if you are a developer and likes commands better
  • Browser extension, just one click away
both integrated with each other and URLs being accessible on both effortlessly

IMAGINE
typing u/jira in your browser takes you to your team JIRA board
typing u/git-repo takes you to your team's git repo
typing u/roadmap-2024 takes you to your team's Roadmap for 2024
typing u/team-objective takes you to your team's objective document.

And if you forget the URLs, you can search right in your browser with whatever you remember. e.g. search for roadmap and you find all possible Roadmap URLs.

All this is possible with the uShort combo of SlackApp + Browser Extension. Visit us: https://slackbooster.com/apps/ushort

Disclaimer: Though this post is a bit of Promotion of the Slack app that I made, I believe this is the best fitting community who might be the most relevant one. I am happy to remove the post if it's not aligned with the guideline. Thank you!

It sounds interesting, but aren't "pins" on slack channels already a solution to this problem?

Thank you for your comment fmfhacker!

You are right, That's what I have been using extensively.

      For

Links like you Jira board: you can pin it or Bookmark it but you can bookmark maybe 5-7 links. Still when you are on a browser and quickly want to open a short url, u/jira might be very convenient.

But in my case there were many other links that refer to Miro boards, Google docs and to access it either I have to search in drive.google.com or history.

Main motivation was to see many of my colleagues struggling to find many links during our meetings and I saw them spending a few minutes to find a relevant link.

That's why I decided to integrate Chrome Extension, and it makes it very easy to search all kinds of links. Similarly, creating a new short URL (which is similar to Bookmarking) is just one click away.

Did you try the product? If you have some time, do install the slack app and the Chrome Extension (There is a pricing link on the website but do not worry about it, it's free). https://slackbooster.com/apps/ushort

Any feedback will be valuable, both on the landing page and the Product itself.

As of Today, I am still thinking, which is more valuable, Slack App or Chrome Extension, so I am still looking for Product Fit.

      Many Thanks
