Whoop 4.0

Anybody here uses Whoop?

I have been using it for a while and wanted to share my experience.

Being on the Whoop was a cool experience. It motivated me to stay active with its data tracking.

Here's my honest review:

Data:

The long-term data aggregation was impressive for tracking progression. Monthly reports were engaging. The mobile app was rich in data, but the web portal was lacking in UX, showing only a week at a time.

Connectivity:

Good connectivity, but needed Wi-Fi or cellular for data upload. Managed to sync even after days without service.

Integrations:

Integrates with apps like Strava, but posting all activities felt all-or-nothing. Annoyed followers with auto-posted images.

Durability:

Survived water and rock climbing. Battery had issues, had to replace it twice. Charging without removing the strap was a plus.

Data Integrity:

Resting heart rate frustrated me, calculated only during sleep. Lack of sleep spiked RHR. Separate daytime RHR calculation desired. Sleep suggestions were overly ambitious.

I use it and love it. Fitness wearables are largely commoditized these days but the one area in which whoop stands out is in weight training: as far as I can tell, whoop is the only wearable that tracks strain/burn during weightlifting workouts, and not just during cardio exercises.

Funny, I just ordered the month trial and here you are posting about it. I have been having a wave of motivation lately and heard about Whoop on a podcast (not the Whoop podcast) so I thought I'd give it a shot. Being free made the decision pretty easy, we will see if I continue to pay for their membership.

do you remember which podcast? I know a couple of guys who got it right after the podcast of DOAC with Bryan Johnson dropped!

I sure do! It's called First Things Thrst, I used to watch this guy's Youtube videos a while back so I started to listen to some of his podcasts. He doesn't have a lot of content but his guests are sometimes interesting. I just looked up Bryan Johnson, I've never heard of him until now but my friend knew who he was right out of the gate of me asking him. 🤣

I am testing different devices separately. Started with Oura then Whoop and now will try the halo.
