How do people go about getting funding? It seems like such a dark art to me.

How do people go about getting funding? It seems like such a dark art to me.
I've been brainstorming a lot for the past few months about finding and raising funds. Unfortunately, the tools (platforms) produced for individual funding are not yet sufficient. I think there are two basic requirements to be able to find funds. To have a large audience, and to stand out with the quality of your work. In cases where these two requirements are met, it is almost impossible not to collect individual funds. I think that people's perspective on individual funding has changed positively recently. With the pandemic, people started to spend money on much more things (online).
Right, but whenever I see people announce they have raised series-A funding, it's never explained how the process works. Do the investment fund companies seek you out or do you need to approach them?
