Said no to a $120,000 first job with a $20k annual bonus to launch SaaS - AMA!

Hey everyone - Arnaud here 😄

No one in my family finished high school but I was fortunate enough to graduate from University of Oxford 🙏

As I was about to become a Lawyer in a high-paying law firm, I decided to take risks while I’m still young (26) and launch my own startup.

So 6 months ago, with my co-founder (21), we took a flat together in a small expensive city and since live on our savings.

We do SaaS every waking hours. In 6 months, we failed many times and already did 3 projects.

We just had our first success a month ago, now we’re doing all we can to grow that MRR, bootstrapped! 💫

Feel free to ask me absolutely anything - about how to save money to start bootstraping, how to meet your co-founder, cold emails, and much more!

You can follow our adventures on Twitter as we build in public

We also launched today on Product Hunt 🚀

Wow didn't know the full story!
What's your goal for the year?

    1. 1

Goal is $20,000 MRR for Breakcold 1 year's anniversary

If you are at the start again, would you do something different? If yes, what?

    1. 2

I will focus on not building a product for 3 months without doing marketing prior to that.

At the end of the day, marketing matters more than product if you want to be successful.

We did this mistake with our first project :'(

      1. 2

That's an interesting insight, so it's better just to get to market (and get leads) with the problem in mind and a rough idea of how to solve that problem.

        1. 2

Yes, that's what we did on our third project and we don't regret it!

Hey Arnaud, how did you get the idea that now seems to get traction? And how did you define what features are essential for the MVP? Thanks 😊

    1. 1

1°) Just by discovering Open AI when they released the public beta a few weeks after

2°) Being able to send emails with follow ups + a basic AI generation

    Hi Arnaud,

What made you refuse this job and want to get into the business game?

    1. 2

      1°) Desire to be free

2°) Doing something that I love, that was the most important

Hey Arnaud 👋 how did you validate that you and your cofounder would be a right fit? Seems like you’re able to get through a lot together which isn’t that common.

We met during a hackathon we won about a year and half ago!

Since then we did really small projects and realized we had the same vision for building a startup :)
