Clubhouse App: Death of the Podcast?

It's time to grasp the new fast growing and sole category channel that is Clubhouse.

Here is why Podcasts are on their way out and what Podcasts are missing:

Funding With the working capital of a recent $110 M raise, Clubhouse is able to stay innovative on how they continue to reach the unreachable.

Exclusivity Being a member or having access to Clubhouse with its gated entry (must be invited only and have an Iphone), it checks the box for a product that not everyone has, nor can they just get anytime.

Audience Clubhouse has over 6M users which means access to a large audience - look for target market challenges as there are many who do not have a profile description updated.

Accessibility Be in touch with your heros in an intimate way, where you have a chance of a customized interaction with guests like Elon, Zuck, and Naval.

With content so fresh and live with Clubhouse, who needs clunky Podcasts?

Strongly disagree. Recorded, structured, and professionally edited podcasts including journalism, 1:1 interviews, and monologues are vastly more appealing to me than Clubhouse. I find the signal-to-noise ratio of Clubhouse to be off-putting.

Agree! Well structured podcasts can be as much as good story telling as it is just chatter

Bath time is perfect for catching up on a podcast. I am not going to lie in the bath on a Sunday afternoon listening and joining in to a live Clubhouse chat!! ;-)

How are we comparing a VC-funded iOS exclusive, invite only app, to a whole domain?

    1. 1

      But let's do that!!

Funding With the working capital of a recent $110 M raise, Clubhouse is able to stay innovative on how they continue to reach the unreachable.

Spotify ALONE gave Joe Rogan $100M. Before that, they invested $2B in the podcast industry. In my experience companies don't spend that much money unless they want to innovate in that industry.

I agree with the other comments here so I upvoted them. I think that podcasts are here to last because they're recorded and have flexibility and creativity in how you structure them. There is a lot of noise in Clubhouse which is definitely off-putting but it is really cool to be in a live room with Elon Musk, Justin Kan, Naval, Marc Andreeson, etc.

It very well may challenge some podcasts but also challenge is the event space i.e seminars, ted talks etc
