If you ever played any educational game you know that feeling of having educational material too artificially integrated into the game mechanic. Often, there are puzzles that are even don’t fit into the narrative. I believe it is a really tuff game design problem that I haven’t seen a good solution of.
Have you ever met games with interesting math integrations you would enjoy? Or do you have some ideas on how to do it the best?
We made our attempt to integrate geometrical problems as magic, where you need to finish the geometrical figures in order to charge the magic. You can find the base prototype here https://funny-study.itch.io/epistemeland (epistemeland.com).
The current vizualization is still poor, but, currently, kids really enjoy it, since it feels like a real and modern game. My vision is to redesign it in a way that it looks like Doctor Strange casting it magic in the movies.
So, what do you think? Will it solve the problem natural incorporation of math problem-solving into games?
