What are some good ways to think of launch strategy?

Hey guys,

I'm building https://startupintern.in, a marketplace that connects the top interns with Indian startups.

I call the current website a MLP: Minimum Loveable Product and I'm ready to launch it in a week's time.

What are some good ways to think of launching? The current jobs on the site are just dummy entries by me and I haven't gotten interns applying yet either.

It was mostly stealth until now, if you'd call it that.

I have channels and some ideas in mind for launch week, but it'd be interesting to hear your thoughts on how you'd go about launching a marketplace?

You need to secure one side of the marketplace asap. Usually, that's the one that's harder to acquire, which in your case I believe are the jobs.

Meaning: You need to get jobs on the site first, so that interns sign up for your newsletter/service, which in return leads to more internship positions getting posted.

Schedule a few tasks for yourself this week and aim to post 5-10 new positions every day. Cross-post each of them on Twitter, Linkedin, Reddit & co.

Sure, makes sense! Will do that.

@iamycee this may be more of product strategy than launch strategy, but when I think about marketplaces, I always think about the concept of “come for the tool, stay for the network” idea where maybe there is some simple tool you can create that leads people into a larger marketplace. That’s the tactic I’m taking, we’ll see if I’m building the right tools first :)

I also think it’s helpful to consider - which part of the marketplace will pay for the other? Not always true, but usually.

Thanks for the detailed response, Dinesh! Loved it. Will work on having unique content and leveraging social media for growth. Also going to do partnerships with accelerators and incubators so I can leverage their networks to get jobs on the site.
