Have you used animated videos in your product marketing?

Hi everyone,

I am a co-founder of a SaaS product in the digital marketing sector, Pixigon.

I'm eager to find out if any of you have ever contemplated or actually produced an animated marketing video for your business / startup. If you haven't, may I ask why? Is it something you've considered?

If you have, how did you utilize it? Did you feature it on your website, YouTube, or in other contexts, and has it been beneficial?

I would greatly appreciate your real-life feedback to assist in shaping our service. Many thanks.

Great work Bnar! It's amazing to see how startups are harnessing the power of animated videos to boost your product's marketing. I'm sure this innovative approach is proving to be very successful for you! Personally I tried https://wideo.co/

Sounds great. What product are you building? :)

I've definitely been thinking about it. It ultimately comes down to how much time/money do I have to devote to this on top of being a solo entrepreneur.

Thanks for your comment. What product/service are you providing?

It's an AI fitness trainer/tracking app currently on the playstore (GOPilotX). My current advertising budget is minimal. Mostly one ad on X, but it gets decent clickthrough to the playstore page.

More engaging ads = more engagement of course, but the problem is time v outcome for me. I have to decide if it's better to spend a day or two on an ad or fix some bug or add some critical feature to add more value to the proposition.

On a side note, the whole marketing technology space has gotten insane in the last few years. The amount of work and knowledge and technical understanding to set up ads on Meta or Google is insane. FB offers a promoted post and X offers a relatively simple ad process, but for the big players/platforms, it really is a fulltime job.

If someone wants to create HootSuite but for ads, I certainly would be happy to sign up.

Nice, well done. I understand what you mean; there are so many aspects to building a product that it can be overwhelming to decide what has the most priority right now, especially if you are the only one working on it. Critical bugs are obviously a priority to take care of, but deciding whether to add a new feature is something else. And as you say, mastering the large advertising platforms takes a lot of understanding and time. It doesn’t make it simpler when the UX/UI/Contents keep changing on these platforms either :) For our previous SaaS, we ended up getting external help with it, even though we managed well for a long time.

I am running B2B SaaS and I have not yet found a need for the type of video that you have on your website. I actually need videos for demo/tutorial purposes. Since my SaaS, Holoib, allows me to create interactive product demos, I simply create an interactive demo and embed it in my help documentation.

Thanks. Yes, there are definitely other types of videos, and we have considered expanding Pixigon in other areas, but have tried to focus more at the start :)

In my own experience, I think it is more so depends on your funnels and target audience. If you have a younger audience, videos are good for retention.

All multimedia content is very useful

I'm thinking a lot about video right now. Here are some potentially random thoughts.

    1. I've produced other animated videos before for B2B software products. That business (as a B2B) had a more complex value prop and an animated video was the best format and it was a big trend in the mid-2010's.

    2. I haven't thought about an animated video for my current project. I'm not totally sure what animated would even mean anymore.

    3. My product will eventually throw off a lot of video assets - real people recording videos. So I'm using those for marketing and social content in the future.

    4. I do need intros & outros for the video's that I will post. I'm looking at intro/outro online tools. My process there was that I pinged my fiver-guy. In order to convey what I was thinking for an intro/outro I had to go find templates, and it might be just as easy to build it. Maybe a tip here is show a lot of examples on your site.... so someone can say, I want one like that.

Happy to chat if you'd like to discuss anything.
