How Facebook filters help you get vaccinated

In mid-July, US President Joe Biden announced that Facebook was killing people because it wasn’t fighting fake news about the dangers of the Covid-19 vaccine (for example, there were many posts about the vaccine causing Alzheimer’s disease). He thought that social network users read these messages and are afraid to get vaccinated 😨

In response, Facebook has tightened its filtering of fake messages, which has helped reduce people's doubts about getting vaccinated. According to the social network, the number of doubters has decreased by 50% among users in the United States and has also become significantly less in other countries.

Facebook said it deleted about 20 million posts, issued a warning to several million more and blocked about 3,000 accounts for violating its policy on misinformation about Covid-19 (even froze the page of the Venezuelan president, who talked about the miraculous medicinal properties of the thyme solution) 😦

Facebook also created special profile frames because it is very important for people that their friends and family support vaccination. Any user can place a photo in such a frame and declare their position. They are labeled “Let's get vaccinated”, “I got my COVID-19 vaccine”. 18 million people have put a photo in such a frame on their avatar.

Facebook's machine learning tools achieved a rate-breaking prevalence of 0.05% in the second quarter of this year. This means there are only 5 unacceptable content per 1000 posts.

Thanks to Facebook's efforts, vaccinations are much less intimidating to users, which means that the social network is making a significant contribution to the fight against the pandemic.
