Code Walkthrough - how i built CoverLetterGPT (1,000 signups in 1 month)

So it's been a fun ride building CoverLetterGPT in public. It's been a bit over a month since launch and I have over 1,150 sign-ups and $200 MRR.

It's all open-source, so to continue in that spirit, I made a code walkthrough video that explains how I built the main features!

Thanks for such transparency and detailed walk through, I've been curious as to how everyone was leveraging chatgpt abilities and buidling on top of it. This got me excited !!

    Congrats!
How important was it to build in public and which channels did you use to make others aware of your product while you built it?

    1. 1

      Thanks.

I have a whole section that goes more in depth on that in the video (you can skip to the chapter), but TL;DR is building in public works and use the channels where you're naturally active/have good "karma"

I saw your app shared on Twitter the other day! Love it.

I have a similar app (https://magicinterviews.com) that uses AI to help people prepare for job interviews. I think both of our projects could be helpful to the same folks. Mind if I add a link to https://coverlettergpt.xyz to the "interview resources" section of my site?

I join to vincanger. It would be great to have a free trial period.

      Hey Behn.

Very nice app! It would be cool to try it out first without purchasing though. I'd love to give it a spin and see if its worth recommending, because, yes, CoverLetterGPT and MagicInterview are very complementary!

There are a few demo's on the home page, but yeah I see why it'd be nice to test the app's ability to extract job details from a link before paying!

I tried to create a 100% off discount for you with Stripe, but it seems to only work with subscriptions 😅. Weird Stripe limitation.

you could just update my user in the db to have access, right?

Awesome job, can't wait for the next update on your journey!
