Google Play seems to require your physical address if you’re selling paid apps or in-app products 🤔
Any way to circumvent this if you’re an individual with nothing but a home address?

Yes, there should be "post office box" service in your country. Your local postal service should be offering it. It's a local address assigned to your legal entity (private entrepreneur or llc or whatever you are)
There are also many companies that offer post forwarding, they open your mail, scan it and mail it to you. For some of my companies, my legal address is my accountant's.
You can put any characters you want. Google does not validate it.
