Build traction before launching your product?

I love building and designing products, although I’m realising that someone in our team (three engineers) has to peel off to start focusing on growth.

That someone is me, gulp 😅 So I’m wondering - did you building traction before launching your product/s?

Which channels/platforms have you focused on/ were successful for you? 
And what kind of content have you created?
