How do you accept online payments?

What’s your preferred way to accept payments online and why?

Do you use Stripe for its huge number of features or Paddle because it handles your taxes? Do you prefer a platform like Gumroad or Shopify to take payments? Do your customers prefer PayPal or is crypto more their thing?

And what do you sell? (SaaS, digital products, physical products...)

Stripe! With its prebuilt subscription checkout and customer portal.

Wobaka charges in dollars but it looks like you're based in Sweden - do you use Stripe's currency conversion?

      P.S. Wobaka looks pretty slick!

Thanks! No, I've only charged in dollars. Might try it at some point.

I find Stripe payment links quite good. The product still has its flaws - but it's quite easy to use. At least for a digital product it's a decent option IMO.

Looks great for static websites and no-code solutions.

What was one of the flaws you came across?

There are a couple of UX/UI problems. E.g. you cannot really delete something but only archive. Even a price change cause a new item - which of course means a mess.

There is no way to actually test a live sale. And even a workaround using a full-price coupon just fails with an unclear error message.

But my biggest problem was setting up shipping costs. It doesn't allow to define shipping costs per country. Which for physical goods is a big WTF. For now I had to move to a shipping included price. For digital goods it's obviously a non-issue.

Another problem for physical goods - you cannot specify inventory (as in max number of sales).

I talked to them and I am still a fan - but I really hope they work these things out. Still feels quite beta for now.

Digital products on 3rd parties like ko-fi, buymeacoffee to stripe to wise to my bank account. If there is any left from the fees and the cuts. :)

I was looking into binance pay lately before I take down all my products, I'll probably check them again when/if I start back.

TIL there is a Binance Pay Merchant account - thanks for the tips!

We started with PayPal as it was quick & easy to implement and also offered the option to pay by card (no PayPal account required). Later on, we implemented Stripe which became our main payment gateway. More recently, we added a crypto payment option, first using CoinGate and then now BitPay.

We just use Stripe, and the only reason was that I'd heard it's easy enough to use.

At dope.link we only use 2 payment processors. One for fiat and the other for crypto. We utilize Stripe for fiat and Coinbase for crypto.

These two companies are the industry standards and so far we are happy with them. We also have the option to add other payment processors like PayPal and Paddle but we like to keep things simple.

However, we also allow our users to get paid within our platform where they have the option to choose from PayPal or Stripe. We are working on implementing crypto payments as well.

We are a SaaS company that helps users establish an online presence and boost their content to maximize engagement and sales with an all-in-one link and bio-page creation tool.

Recently, my preference is definitely crypto, whether taking payments or making payments. There is no tax problem, instant payments can be made anywhere in the world. I think it's the best thing crypto has brought into my life.

@tcurdt @JustinFransen @samlevy I'm trying to accept via Metamask, but the process is definitely not enough. I can't automate things; I have to do everything manually. The whole acceptance process is taking up too much of my time. But I put up with it because it solves the tax problem. I've been researching receiving payments with cryptocurrencies for a while, and I haven't come across a good product that can solve this problem yet.
