Trump doesn't plan to get back on Twitter, but this may set a new precedent.
TL;DR: Musk doesn't think permabans make sense:
"Banning Trump from Twitter didn't end Trump's voice. It will amplify it among the right. And this is why it is morally wrong and flat out stupid."

Well I don't think Trump will be happy with this development as it means Truth social really has no basis for existing anymore.
As far as I am aware Elon Musk was saying you should be able to just filter out things you don't want.
That makes sense to me.
Banning has some issues and I think increases division. With this move Elon Musk gains credibility in terms of freedom of speech. There are likely better ways to counter misinformation than banning. Maybe something around flagging and linking counter arguments in these high profile accounts with controversial views. Tricky to do of course. It is important to remain impartial and credible, maybe offering the strongest supporting links for both POVs.
Agreed. And yeah, it's very tricky. Super fine line/slippery slope between the censorship we're seeing and the censorship we hear about in places like China, if you ask me.
