I just did 100 Days of Twitter Spaces, AMA

We (@erinmikail and I) started this 100 Days of Twitter Spaces bet at the end of November 2021, on a bit of a whim.

It sounded like a good idea at the time, once we got past 30 days it felt like we had gone too far to give up, so we kept going.

There was no goal apart from keeping showing up, forming a habit, talking and meeting new people. Mostly we talked community, but varied our topics at times.

Today we completed our challenge - we showed up for a Twitter Space together for every day over 100 days.

We did this through:

  • covid, her and then me
  • my husband having double hip replacement
  • Erin may have passed out one day from a migraine
  • Christmas and New Years day
  • when I quit my job
  • hectic work schedules
  • different timezones
  • tears and laughter
  • my birthday
  • community manager appreciation day
  • and other things I've forgotten about

Do you have any stats to share around community/follower growth? Any outcomes that surprised you?

It's hard to separate Twitter Spaces growth activities from my normal day to day activities.

I don't think it impact my followers too much tbh, but here's my open stats - https://typefully.com/rosiesherry/stats

Congratulations @rosiesherry! That is amazing despite all of life's challenges and surprises. I want to do something similar but am not disciplined enough. 😫

I definitely would've failed without Erin, having an accountability buddy was the key to battling through it. Once we got past 30 days we just felt like we couldn't let each other down.

That makes sense. I've been speaking to a friend who wants to do a social media challenge but we didn't explore doing it together. Kudos to Erin and you for keeping each other motivated and committed to the challenge!

Congratulations again Rosie. Now that is a wonderful persistence/resilience/grit showcase! 🎉

What was the one thing that you discussed that you think really drove engagement? Thank you!

    1. 1

Generally when we had good and specific themes - ones like community debt, community burn out, and community marketing went down well.

What drove engagement was ultimately planning ahead, which we often didn't do because of lack fo time.

        Thanks for sharing! Great insights

Just showing up is a great challenge. Curious, what were your biggest takeaways?
If you tried this again, what would you do differently?

    1. 2

Biggest takeaway is that 30 days would've been a good enough challenge, 100 made it tough.

If I did it again, I would draft out talk ideas in advance and be better at inviting other people on to lead some of the conversations.

I'd like to recommend @lakshyapatel as a guest - he does Spaces, and is working with me on a new way to find the best Discord communities to join.
