Minimalist blogging platforms: any recommendations?

I'm looking for minimalist or lightweight blogging or microblogging hosted platforms that can be used fully in a browser and are simple to operate, so no static site generators or self-hosting. I'm interested in platforms that support Markdown, focus on writing, have a clean design, and provide an uncluttered reading experience.

Most listicles of such services rehash the usual suspects like Medium and Tumblr. The best list I've found is this, which features some little known and unique platforms: Blogging Platforms That Encourage You To Write.

Typehut is exactly what I'm looking for but seems abandoned. Other similar platforms are apparently getting little maintenance or support. Micro.blog is nice but has a few rough edges.

Any other recommendations? Is there still activity in this space? You're welcome to share your product as long as it's relevant.

    I would recommend https://nextra.vercel.app/
Build on nextjs using markdown. That is simple and clean. Also very fast.

Thanks but it looks like it's a static site generator which, as noted, I'm not looking for.

Try typeshare.co, It has integration with Twitter and Medium. You can publish your blog and post in Twitter & Medium at the sametime.

I am not sure if you are a developer but for my virtual coworking space for entrepreneurs I use Hugo

Hey Paolo, Substack is pretty great for micro blogging and it enables you to create a audience you can easily monetize later 😄

I hadn't thought about newsletter platforms but they're another option too.

Despite the name, https://blogstatic.io is a good fit for what you're looking for.

The static part of the name I think refers to how they generate the site on the back end, but the interface for you is clean and browser based.
