Digital Leverage: working smarter, not harder.

Justin Welsh is one of the most successful solopreneurs in the world. His one-person business is making more than $1.7 million per year through selling courses, a newsletter, and different digital products.
In one of his newsletters, he shares a guide on using digital leverage to grow your multiple businesses.

I will share a summary here:

How to use digital leverage
As a solopreneur, it is essential to use your time efficiently. So, Digital Leverage means using the internet to achieve more - with less time, effort, and resources.
With this technique, you can use one idea and use compounding to scale the content around that concept.

Digital leverage is made with 3 parts:

  • Content: Think 1x, Publish 10x
  • Selling: Publish 10x, Sell 100x
  • Compounding: Sell 100x, Compound 1,000x

Content: Think 1x, Publish 10x:

The content starts with a single idea.
From that idea, you can create 10 different pieces of content and publish it on different channels (Twitter, Instagram, blog, Newsletter)

Selling: Publish 10x, Sell 100x

Effectively distributing your content on social media is a simple and powerful strategy for generating sales.
By distributing on social media the content you already create, you will be adding value for free.
The more high-value touch points you create across various platforms, the more likely you are to engage your audience, build trust, and position yourself as someone of expertise and authority.
After giving value for free, you can offer your paid products (courses, ebooks, etc).
The selling step is essential to generate loyalty in your customers.

Compounding: Sell 100x, Compound 1,000x

If you have 100 customers, you can have much more by offering an affiliate program.
Incentivizing your happy customers to spread the good word about your products or services can mean thousands of extra happy customers and revenue.

By offering an attractive affiliate program you can increase your revenue by working much less hard, but smarter.

This is a summary of what Justin Welsh has done to grow his digital business as a solopreneur. Is really usefull if you are building in public selling digital products such as courses or ebooks.

I think it is great to grow a newsletter if you launch a paid subscription. Maybe I will do it in mine, but at the moment I will keep it free.
