Should I publish my review of competing products?

We make blog books and there are a few competitors out there who do the same (but less well, obviously). To keep tabs, I am using their services to order their books and compare versus our own. Is it ok/proper to fairly and openly publish the results of my research on our own blog?

I am motivated both by helping to better inform our (and their) customers, and also hoping that it may help SEO too. I would try to be fair, balanced, add disclaimers etc, but might it be taken badly? What could go wrong?
