New mom or dad feeling down? You are not alone.

It was the mental health awareness week here in Scotland last week (and I think around the world as well?) so I thought I'd share something I've gone through after becoming a dad: feeling down.

Postnatal depression can happen to both moms and dads.

From my own, dad perspective and experience, I found this article very helpful from the NCT Trust:

https://www.nct.org.uk/life-parent/emotions/postnatal-depression-dads-10-things-you-should-know

NHS UK also offers a free depression and anxiety quiz you can take here:

https://www.nhs.uk/mental-health/self-help/guides-tools-and-activities/depression-anxiety-self-assessment-quiz/

After taking the quiz, I narrowed it down to being tired after many sleepless, difficult nights. Once the kids started to sleep better through the night every now and then, things started to improve slowly.

So, if you're feeling down next time, hope the resources above will help you figure it out, and remember, you're not alone in this, it's not easy but it gets better with time.
