I'm wondering if there are any platforms you can use without needed to start a company? Does that exist.
I want to test out an idea, but I'm wondering how I can see if I can generate any revenue, and only turn it into a business if it get some traction.
Any experience in that?
We use our own product – Solidgate https://solidgate.com/. It's an online payment processing platform, especially great for subscription services. I find Stripe too overpriced and kinda fixed in its own ecosystem of products

I use stripe along with chargebee
I use paddle, the fee is moderate (bit higher than stripe) but they handle everything including sales tax
We use Stripe for https://scrapingfish.com for now but we consider switching to Paddle (https://www.paddle.com). It has higher rates but, as opposed to Stripe, Paddle is a merchant of record. It means that it takes care of your taxes. You actually sell to Paddle, so you have one client and one invoice from accounting perspective, and Paddle sells to you clients.

For some reason I can't vote :( but I favor Stripe in general. I'm also a web dev and definitely see that's the most popular payment option for ecommerce and membership websites.
I currently use PayPal , but it really sucks. Thinking to get my hands on alternatives, but geographically we are too limited.

For https://www.devshirt.club we use only stripe. Honestly I can't say that i'm happy with such a percent of transaction, but i think of it is easy to setup and necessary evil.

But I like Paddle more because of their taxes solution. One thing that Stripe is lacking.

Did you use Paddle from the start or maybe switch to Paddle from a different platform. I'm looking for some feedback on how the migration process works.
I am using the Laravel framework which offers spark first-party subscription solution for sass. They included the paddle in the new version of that package. I decided to give it a try when I was starting my new project.
Switching payment providers on the fly is a hard task I believe. But they have some migration guides and support from what I saw. But personally, I wasn't doing that migration. So I can not tell.
Hearing great things about Paddle.
I use FastSpring. They allow accounts from South Africa without jumping through hoops like registering companies in other countries and they handle global sales tax.
