Opportunity on Threads and Why We Pass for Now

We discussed the work we've done for Sapiengraph's growth. Now, let's share what we've decided not to do after thorough research. Specifically, we've decided not to devote much effort to a Threads account.

Currently, we want to foster more conversations on UGC platforms such as Reddit, X, Quora, and similar forums. Threads, Meta’s version of X, initially created a buzz upon its launch in 2023 but quickly lost momentum. However, earlier in 2024, it began to regain popularity. Moreover, the recent SEO landscape favors UGC platforms following Google's core update last year, so there may be an opportunity worth exploring.

However, upon looking into Threads' performance in SEO tools, we found that the well-ranking links are predominantly personal home pages. This aligns with Threads' position as a social media platform. While X shares a similar genesis, it has evolved into a discussion hub throughout the years. When we looked into X’s performance in SEO tools, unlike Threads where personal accounts dominate SERP, X has more query pages. Therefore, posts have a chance to surface whenever relevant keywords are searched, potentially reaching users who initially land on X through search engines. But on Threads, the chance might be way lower. We also noticed a scarcity of content related to Google Sheets templates or formulas on Threads, which suggests that our target audience might not be there yet.

Do we want to have a presence on Threads? In an ideal world, we would experiment with everything. However, given our current focus on getting SEO success, we don't see many chances on Threads and have decided not to set it as an immediate priority. But if you hold a different perspective, please let us know. We're more than happy to hear your thoughts!
