B2B Sales - where to start?

My cofounder and I have gotten our product in a place that I feel will allow us to distinguish ourselves from competition in the market. I’m ready to get out there and start selling, and hopefully gather feedback from end users on functionality and future product improvements. How have you/what advice do you have for starting down this journey?

We are planning on reaching out directly to potential customers with personalized emails, possibly following up with calls as well. Any thoughts on playbooks or just general advice. We are both software engineers, so sales isn’t our strong suit at the moment.

I had a great chat with Marc LG, who has founded PowerImporter, where he explains how he was able to get his first B2B clients.

Do 50-100 client interviews... Great book: The mom test.

You can't sell until you know the REAL WORLD value your product brings.
It seems you have built your product based on a thesis of a value proposition.
Now you need to validate your thesis by learning what the real world is like for your prospective customers. When you KNOW how they think and feel about the problem you solve. Then you can have the meaningful conversations that lead to sales.

Save yourselves from the burning pit in your stomach of not knowing what is important for THEM.
People don't care about your product. They care about their problem.
Learn about their problem so you can show them you cared about it too - Enough to come up with a brilliant solution for it.

Sales is NEVER about "YOUR product" - It is ALL about "THEIR problem".

I hope this helps you reframe how you see sales - So you can make lots of them ;-)

I would suggest focusing on one mode of outreach, it could be cold call , emails or advertising. Once it becomes automate has a proven system that works then you can start other modes of outreach. You can hit 100k arr , with one mode of outreach. I'll be glad to help you out if you need help. I'm in sales and marketing for over 7 years
