Improving AI Content Generation with OpenAI's Chat GPT API: My Experience

Hello, Indie Hackers!

I wanted to share my experience with the new Chat GPT API from OpenAI. I’m currently working on an AI content generator delyai.com. I have been using the GPT-3 API for a while and decided to test the Chat GPT API to see how it performs in comparison. Here are some key takeaways:

  1. Noticed a significant improvement in content quality. The Chat GPT API is able to generate longer and more detailed sections that are more related to each other, which has resulted in better quality content. This improvement is likely due to the chat structure, which allows the model to better understand the context of the content it's generating.
  2. I found that the cost of using the Chat GPT API is lower than using the GPT-3 API. Although the Chat GPT API uses more tokens due to its chat structure, the tokens are cheaper, which makes the overall cost of generating a full-length blog post about 50% less expensive.
  3. Did not notice a significant improvement in speed compared to the GPT-3 API. Although OpenAI claims that the Chat GPT API is faster than other models, I did not see any noticeable difference in speed. However, the increase in content quality more than makes up for this.
  4. Had to make some changes to the code to accommodate the chat structure of the Chat GPT API. Additionally, had to modify the prompts due to the lack of model training. While these changes required some development effort, they were not overly difficult to implement.

My experience with the Chat GPT API has been positive overall. The improvements in content quality and cost savings are significant benefits to consider.

Have you tried the Chat GPT API yet?
