How we increased our inbound organic leads by 50% in “just 30 days”

In December 2023, we saw a jump in ranking for all our targeted money keywords (landing page keywords) that resulted in 50% more leads compared to November 2023!

Here's a step-by-step process of how we did it:

We started the year with where we lacked the most.

Link Building

In January 2023, we started "organic" link building with the ABC link exchange method to build a network of other SEOs, where we could exchange links without paying a dime.

Our exact process:

  • We scraped our competitor's backlinks from Ahrefs.
  • Filtered them to links that were coming from other SaaS sites, had good domain authority, and good relevancy.
  • We ignored all paid links.
  • In the end, we had 1000s of sites that were organically giving links to our competitors.
  • Then, we found the emails of SEOs working on these sites.
  • Created a value proposition and follow-up sequence and started outreach via Email.

Six months later, by June 23, our domain authority went from 26 to 52! And we still have the network of SEOs that we built, which we can tap into any time for quick backlinks.

That said:

After all of this, we didn't have any significant improvement in our landing page rankings.

So, we took a long hard look at everything and saw that all our landing pages were useless. They weren't fulfilling the intent of the targeted keywords at all. Only two pages were ranking, and one of them was the home page with traffic from branded keywords.

Back to the Basics

We stopped link building due to limited bandwidth and went to work on the basics.

Here's what we did:

  • We analyzed all our targeted keywords and understood the intent of the keywords. What was ranking on it and why?
  • All our landing pages were targeting keywords that had blogs ranking for them. We never stood a chance with landing pages.
  • We revamped all our landing pages and made them "mixed intent." A landing page that was structured like a blog with a structure like:
  • What

  • Why

  • How

But here's the most impactful thing we did:

We created content clusters to support our authority on the topic of these landing pages and interlinked them to create a pyramid.

It took us around 4-5 months to do of all this, with a few iterations of trial and error. By November, we were all done. And just like all of the pieces of a puzzle finally coming together, it all clicked just as the year was about to end in December.

Then?

Everything turned green. All the rankings. Traffic. Incoming Leads.

So, yeah, within "30 days" our lead count jumped 50%.

      Paid links initially let to 26 DR. We needed the paid link to get that initial start, after that we stopped with paid because we could do it organically.
