All-in on web3

Hi, this is JC, from Barcelona. I've been reading IH for a while, today (finally!) I dare to write my first post. I hope it can be helpful for someone.

A few months ago, after reading about the web3 for years, it finally "clicked" in my head. Within a few weeks, I went from being a crypto-skeptic to an absolute web3 fan. Now it's crystal clear to me: the web3 is here to stay and is a HUGE opportunity for all of us.

Immediately after that moment of clarity, I started thinking about what to build... I've almost no funds to invest in design/marketing, but I've pretty good technical skills. So it was clear that my only chance to create something remarkable was to develop an innovative product from a technical point of view, something that seems"new" even for someone who has seen hundreds of web3 projects.

So I decided to build a new approach to an NFT collection minting page.

UnlistedPunks is a derived collection (yes, another one) of the famous CryptoPunks , the collection composed by the 35.610.480 punks not included in the original collection. The main difference with the original collection, and with most other NFT collections (besides its size), is that users can create their own custom NFTs (in this case, a custom punk).

As far as I know, this is a new approach to a minting site, and I'm sure we'll see more collections like this in the near future.

I launched the collection a couple of weeks ago. The first few days were very good (the collection made almost $3,000 on ETH ), but lately, the number of sales has dropped drastically... not a single mint during the last 3 days. I have been using Twitter Ads as the only marketing channel, and it works OK the first days… but now the number/quality of visits seems to be dropping as well.

Can anyone give me some advice on how to keep the collection alive?

Thanks!!!

The idea is pretty cool and straight forward(the process). I think you might need to create articles( explaining the uniqueness of your offering) and probably launch on producthunt. The need for a live chat or some kind of instant communication where users can ask questions before purchase or share feedback will be necessary to validate it too.. will really like to be a part of this if you need extra hands

Really well done on the website, and cool idea!

How are you communicating UnlistedPunks to the market? Your write-up here was crystal clear, but the idea itself is complicated so I am curious as to how you condensed it. The story at its core is that UnlistedPunks is comprised of the CryptoPunks that were never generated.

I would also like to hear your thoughts on how a community will develop around an NFT that has 35,610,480 possible tokens. Is the lack of exclusivity something that matters?

      Hi! Thanks for your comment!

Yep, definitely, the idea behind the collection is uncommon (I wouldn't say complicated! but that's my opinion); and I would say that the reason is that I'm doing things a little bit differently.

Is selecting your favorite traits for minting and NFT something hard to understand? Nop. Is it uncommon? YES.

No matter how much time have you spent on the NFT space, you probably have never seen a minting approach like the one I'm using on UnlistedPunks, and this can be a no-no for some people, but for others (the visionaries? xD) would be exactly the reason that pushes them to mint!

My communication strategy is almost... inexistent: I'm trying to get some engagement on Twitter (not very successfully BTW), to drive some traffic to the page. I have updated some texts on the page to put the focus on the "build your own punk" message, more than on "the 35,610,480 punks not generated", that number can be a little bit scary, and definitely seems that the "build your own punk" message is easier to understand (that's the clearest conclusion from the little feedback I have obtained by the moment).

To get some more traction, I have developed a Twitter Bot that auto-reply to some tweets. Let's see how t works during the next few days :-)

About the lack of exclusivity: My idea was to compensate the fact that the collection is virtually infinite, with the automatic price rise that is applied with each new minting. Not sure if it was a good idea, probably setting a limit on the collection (10k for example) wouldn't have done any harm.

How did you go about designing the webpage? looks really cool.

      Hi! thanks :-)

TBH, design is not among my strengths! So I decided to keep it simple and give it a retro flavor (because punks are a kinda retro design too). My objective here was that people landing on the page thought that the pixelated-retro-brutalist design was something intended, looking for a "nostalgic" reaction, and not due to a lack of skills
