The internet of protest is being built on single-page websites

Was a great article, and was cool to see AJ excited about it being used for progressive causes.
As a Carrd designer I was little cringe at how basic the big BlackLivesMatter(s) dot Carrd dot com sites were. And frankly how they still didn't grasp ownership by using custom domains.
But it's a HUGE improvement on Google Docs or FB pages etc.

AJ is still surprised by his tool’s evolution. “I’ve been floored,” he says. “I didn’t anticipate it. It feels like a throwback [to the early internet]. You can question the quality of the design, but you can’t question the authenticity of it. It’s nice to enable people to do that.”

I was joking to someone a while back at how people in the early 2000's were let loose on the likes of MySpace to create their own online personal masterpieces and building websites in HTML, then it's been a slow decline of not being able to add personal customisation ever since.

This article is from August, so not new new, but I like the idea of going back to some of the ideas of the early-ish internet. 😇
