nice post! i do the same, i record the video than extract audio to create a podcast with little bit of editing than transcribe to get the blog content.

Which platform for distributing your podcast episodes works best?

      1. 1

I have not used any platform so far.

    Hi Jennifer! Awesome post!

I really like your recommendations, however, I wouldn't rely too much on the video format. I have my own show with a friend and in my experience when you start to record it other factors kick in. For example how you record the episode. Do you edit the audio and the video separately? How do you record it? Do you use like OBS or a camera? If you got a camera, how do you monitor if you've run out of memory or if the recording stopped for whatever reason? All of these problems transform your content into neither a podcast or a video.

So as long as you can keep a strict boundary between video as the essential content or video as a complimentary content for better accessibility, you're good doing videos.

    Have a nice day!

Thank you! Yes, video is not a must! :)

We use it as a way to repurpose it into engaging short clips for distribution and to upload it on Youtube.

How do you cut these clips? :) I'm currently helping video podcasters automate that highlight clip cutting process with my tool https://podcut.io/. If you're interested, I'd love to cut one of your episodes into vertical highlight clips for free and get some feedback on how you like the clips!

Yep, that's definitely one way to go :) For a less complicated solution headliner.app videos can be a nice substitute.

Also, do you have any best practices to pick the most interesting parts for cold open intros or other meta content (social media pics, soundbite videos, etc.) or you'd rather write them ahead with the purpose of using them in meta content? That's what I've find the hardest part in the last 3 years of podcasting.

Will check out headliner.app, thank you!

We usually watch the video and pick the most interesting part and cut it into a small clip as a "hook".

The most recent podcast episode with Janis Ozolins shows how we do it:
