Mostly into email extraction?

What else are you interested in extracting?

We see lots of stuff in the ScrapeDiary community, everything from financial data, to company data for lead generation, competitor analysis and research, through to price comparisons for e-commerce.

What are you using to run your email extractions? And what sites do you normally do this from? For me, I've used Tripadvisor a lot to extract business and contact details from

I tested out DataGrab with a variety of use cases, such as:

    • product listings: Amazon
    • business directories: Yelp, Yellowpages
    • tech forums: StackOverflow, Coderanch (*)
    • real estate sites: imobiliare.ro (a Romanian aggregator site)

(*) For CodeRanch, I did a quite advanced thing (maybe fairly standard, in fact?): starting with the top page (that lists threads), I scraped every thread for posts, but only extracted new posts at each run. This was somewhat challenging because the list of threads was constantly reordered by the latest post's date. I exposed this feature in DataGrab as "Incremental Mode" but since nobody ever used it, I dropped it at some point (maybe the naming was bad?).

Anyways, I'm really happy that we can share our use cases. What I need the most is real-world use cases to test my tool against.

So keep these reports going! ;)

No email for me. I'm more into aggregating data.
