What is My Startup Update?
Welcome to My Startup Update. Usually Monthly updates from my design startup, Kealey Media. Hear from a young entrepreneur on his business journey.
Post-Launch
I launched Kealey Media under a month ago and already seen some good results. I have one retainer client through a local agency and had a few one-off plans. I have a few promo codes floating around which are being used up for those one-off plans.
What's Next?
For now, I want to focus on building up my client base and put more effort into designing a high converting landing. I spent the last few days doing that by adding more content. Along with that, I want to niche down. I started doing that by targeting SBOs/Startups and Agencies. Having worked with both, this might be a good starting point.
What happened to Design Sprints?
I thought it would be better to consolidate all the plans into one single pricing list. Design sprints are still there but are turned into one-offs. Weekly services aren't really appealing and when I made the switch, I instantly got a few messages from potential clients.
Conclusion:

Not sure who you're referring to. I'm inspired by a few design services on the interwebs. If you have a link to Brent's work, I'll take a look later, might find something cool to add.
Best of luck dude! I'd say the websites look a bit template-like; however, they may be spot-on for the clients you are looking for.
I am curious if, for instance, a massage therapist would pay an ongoing fee of 1k P/M for a website - they could use WIX for 1% of that cost.

I understand where you're coming from with the template-look. Trying to work on improving that so it feels different yet familiar to most users.
A massage therapist wouldn't fit into my targeted niche. I know many can simply purchase a template or use a low-cost platform and be done with it, but that's not the client I aim to design for. Of course, it's perfectly acceptable if others choose to do so.
I've considered developing templates on Webflow and providing them to small businesses, but that would add more to my plate. For now, I'll focus on working with startup founders or agencies.
