    I'm always interested in the growth rates of these companies. It's hard to tell by the graph, but LinkedIn hit 1,000 users in ~2 weeks.

      I wonder whether it was more if they launched today.

      A (very) good pitch on HackerNews alone can get you several thousands of signups in one day... there are many more distribution channels today, but there are more startups competing for the spotlight as well.

        Yup. I suppose that if you took an idea that was unique and useful it would be adopted much faster today. I wonder if software and apps follow the same trend as consumer electronics.
