Story of Iconbuddy from $0 to $6k per month in last 9 months

"Hey bro. I want to sell my project iconbuddy.app and I wanted to check if you can somehow deliver the sale if possible and take some percentage of the sale for yourself."

There was no revenue and no traffic, but when I see the website. I liked it and i decided that let's do this acquisition by myself.

We jump on a video call same day, He asked $5k but we both agreed for $4k.

he transfer the domain, and all the assets.

Now what?

First I decide to launch on ProductHunt to see the validation about the idea.

With 745+ upvotes become product of the day, +++ response.

No revenue, it's ok.

I had no idea how to monetize this website. I worked with some design companies

@MobbinDesign
and more.

Problems:

• Only 4 slots on the website(maximum I can make $1k)
• Always looking for partners

I added the authentication to access some features on the website and start collecting emails.

I built Figma Plugin because designers need icons directly in there software.

I built this and publish on Figma, plugin was in trending for 20 days and got 4k+ install within 1 month.

Now I decide to charge to my customers 1-time fee to access Figma Plugin and web search for lifetime.

$49 Lifetime subscription - Sold 46 licences 🎉

So, after that I got a validation that people will love to pay if you make their life easier.

So, I decide to play a marketing game with pricing.

Now I increase the pricing to $149 and was giving $80 discount on that.

So, Now $69 for lifetime subscription - Sold 117 licences 🎉 in 2 months.

Things are going great.

↗️ Increase the price again. 🤪 $60 discount on $149.

$89 lifetime subscription - 18 licences sold in last 10 days and counting.

This is all was organic, and was sending weekly email to remind that Lifetime deals are running.

Now, I'm planning to launch team licensing to sale to business. Let's see how this will go.

This is long way to make $6k per month. Keep iterating and experiments.

I was investing back and bought .com of iconbuddy for $3999.

I made $15,497 in last 9 months with iconbuddy that I acquire for $4k.
