I think it is the opposite! It is just the beginning.

I am checking analytics in Semrush and other is a strong request for open-source alternatives for many SaaS tools.

Okay, indeed, that might be so, and that’s what I feel somewhat too. But!

Is nexjs or supabase or you-name-it really really open source? I mean - yes, the code is public, but the governance isn’t really community-based.

That’s what worries me a bit.

No, definitely not. In fact, with the release of Stable Diffusion and other open source AIs, open source is only becoming bigger.

The main reason being there being an opportunity for profit.

Take stable diffusion, for example, it's open source, but setting it up is still unconventional; nothing like a normal software you download. Nor complicated, but complicated enough to turn off most people. Furthermore, a lot of people don't have Nvidia GPUs, or just don't have a good enough computer.

    Business opportunity!

So definitely not going away any time soon.

In fact, I'm currently jumping on this train and developing a stable diffusion API myself for all the app devs making stable diffusion apps. If anyone wants to follow along on my journey, feel free to follow on twitter https://twitter.com/TheRealEtch

Hm hm hm… I see your point here. Well, yeah, with this case I agree 200% to be honest!

And I believe we already follow each other on Twitter 😉
