Tool for handling Image/Video upload & storage

Wondering what tooling people use for image & video upload, conversion and storage. I ended up rolling a bunch of custom stuff for a different project but wanted to check what the market was like for a tool that would handle this.

Upload and serve files
generate thumbnails and alternate sizes for images
handle conversion to uniform media type (dealing with iphone .heic & .mov is a pain)

This seems like such a common problem that there should be some tooling around it, but I still frequently encounter large successful applications that can't handle certain image formats.

Any feedback around how you handle it or if you wish there was a better way is appreciated.
