What's your content planning horizon?

Hi IH! Would like to ask: how far ahead do you plan the scope (topics + timings) of the content for your/company blog, newsletter, etc.?

Caught myself in a situation when I come up with the post topic few days prior, just based on my operative memory and inspiration.

From the one side, it is fine since there are always some social media trends emerging and I can spot them and react. For example, Twitter hashtags.

On another side, I'm aiming on providing useful and educational content related to the product domain. Coming up with post topic the same week doesn't sound like a long-term educational planning.

How do you build the content scope?

Especially for Reddit, Twitter and newsletter since we are marketing on these.
