In the past I often used an ad blocker and a VPN too (and I would still recommend those especially if you’re visiting sites you don’t trust) but I feel these days you can get a pretty good experience on the web if you’re in Europe just by making sure to engage with those GDPR consent forms.
\nI also use one of those services that gives me an email alias so I can get a brand new email alias for every new site I want to sign up for when I don’t want them to get my real email. Source

\nUnderstand your options. Set browser-based defaults as to what you are comfortable with. And, once you've educated yourself, it's your decision as to what you are comfortable with or not - some want more privacy others less. Don't judge but get to the point where you can make an educated decision for yourself.

\nI was working on a new update for my privacy browser on Android, Snap Search and improved the ad block tech like crazy. Even more efficient and blocking tons more of ads, trackers and analytics now.\nSo while I was testing the improvements, I decided to try few news articles.
\nIt led to a full fledged experiment, where I picked one topic all of them wrote about and then did a comparison to see which news website requests the most number of harmful resources.
\nYou can read the whole thing if you're interested.
\nPS: It is a lot of ads-trackers-analytics. Average of 23 blocked resources out of 15 websites.

\nMany web browsers and ad blockers already have the ability to completely block client-side tracking scripts (like Google Analytics), so what's stopping them from making this the default?
\nWhile it may seem unrealistic, the recent confusion caused by the latest Safari Intelligent Tracking Prevention update gave us a glimpse into how the community would react.
\nIf this became the default, it would only add to the amount of traffic that client-side tracking solutions already miss due to ad blockers and privacy-conscious users.
\nI'm interested to hear other opinions on this and if there are any alternatives to server-side analytics in this scenario?
